Martin | Slovakia | September | 2024
Dear Friends and Partners,
September in Slovakia traditionally means the beginning of a new school year. At the Lutheran Academy in Martin, Slovakia (LAMS) we opened 2024-2025 as always – worshipping and thanking God for all His care and help. Our school pastors Jana Bosákova and Natália Kacianová encouraged all of us to follow God’s guidance on our individual and academic life journeys. We all are on a walk with God who in Jesus Christ has revealed His ways to us and taught us his paths (Psalm 25:4).
This year’s enrollment stayed similar to the previous year: total of 748 students (744 last year), 69 in kindergarten, 423 in elementary school, and 256 in high school. Besides Slovaks, there are now 22 Ukrainian children studying in our school. All these students are served by 89 teachers and 29 administration staff. As in the past years, LAMS can rely on the ongoing financial and spiritual support of our Christian Education Foundation and the Bible School, connecting it with you, our faithful partners.
In September we were privileged to host some of you, our dear friends and supporters from the USA: the Lunders and the Swansons. They not only encouraged us in our mission but also shared their personal witnesses. Both couples told our high schoolers their personal stories about reconstructions of several buildings on our campus. The stories are nothing short of miracles. These buildings were ruined by the communist regime but were restored thanks to God through the people like the Lunders and the Swansons. Their message is clear: When God is in work, never underestimate humble beginnings. God’s presence and the effort of many who believe in Him was the foundation stone of the great campus that our students now enjoy.
Bohdan Hroboň and Adrian Kacian as editors and co-authors were presented at the dedication of the final 7th volume commentary on the book of Psalms at the Theological Faculty of the University of Trnava. This first comprehensive commentary on Psalms in Slovak language provides valuable exegetical and theological information not only for pastors and preachers but also for any devoted student of the Bible. Reading and understanding God’s word is the necessary premise to follow His ways. These commentaries are in accord with the mission of CCE: make Christ known through education.
Dear friends and partners, the beginning of a new school year is a great opportunity to synchronize our steps with God. He is willing to walk us through all that the future holds. We thank you for walking with us the past. We encourage you to join us on our exciting journey this school year as well.
Yours in His service,
Adrian Kacian, Director of Development Bohdan Hroboň, president of CCE
