Dear Friends and Partners,
“Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things.”
This first verse from Psalm 89 was the motto of the national competition in singing Christian songs that took place in May here in the CCE . Children from all over Slovakia presented their talents and skills, singing contemporary Christian songs and traditional Lutheran hymns. Listening to these children and witnessing their faith in Christ, you would stop worrying about the future of the church.
On May 8, we, just like the psalmist, also recalled the marvelous things that the Lord has done in our part of the world. During this national holiday we commemorated the defeat of fascism and the end of WWII. We have done this is a very active way: cleaned the entire campus, planted new gardens and plants, and made other numerous improvements. Over 100 parents, students, and teachers participated having a great time, making our campus a better and nicer place.
“The mile of Hope” was another exciting event that our school organized in May. It was the final fundraiser for the non-profit organization “Plamienok” (Beacon) that provides care for children with terminal diseases. Our school year-long campaign raised 4,600 EUR through various fundraisers our students and teachers have organized. Another marvelous thing to praise God for!
If you had happened to be near our campus on Saturday May 25, you would have had a chance to see more than 1200 parents, students, and teachers together playing various games, enjoying music, and having fun together. Seven huge pots of traditional goulash were served in addition to hot dogs to feed all who gathered. We were thankful that after the Covid pandemic we as a school could meet again like this, having fun together.
Our fundraiser to build nine classrooms for $1,278,000 was successfully launched. In April and May, we were able to raise $142,000, which covers one classroom. We ask for your generosity, hoping to have all classrooms ready by September 2025. Thanks to your support and prayers we can witness marvelous things and activities every month and sing to the Lord a new song!
Yours in His service,
Adrian Kacian, Director of Development Bohdan Hroboň, president of CCE
