Students from Lutheran Elementary School in Martin will learn how to manage Money!

Do you understand financial terms? Can you choose the right bank product or spend your money wisely? Do not worry—this is NOT ADVERTISING for a new financial product :) Our goal is to tell you about a project that the eldest students at our Lutheran Elementary School in Martin will participate in.

This experimental program called “More Than Money” attempts to improve people’s knowledge and skills with finances. This practical class will help students have a better knowledge of our economy, understand basic financial terms, and learn how to better manage their own money. In addition, this course will help students be more responsible for the things they receive from God.

The latest research shows that in ‘financial literacy,’ many Slovaks do not score well. In a survey of a thousand people on the internet, the average score was 68%. This is something that needs to improve.

During November, students will take an entrance exam to verify their knowledge at the beginning of the course. During the class, they will study what is meant by ‘economy,’ and the market; money and financial institutions; economic stability; the role of government; international relationships, and so on. Students’ progress will be tested again at the conclusion of the class and they will be awarded a certificate if they receive a passing score on the final exam.

Excellent class to add to the cirriculum… and give the next generations a little more knowledge to manage the financial gifts granted to them by God.

  2. Larry Fast says:

Is tithing (giving 10%) of your income included in this course? If not check out Malachi 6:8-12.
