Just Have to Listen

I’ve been reading through the book “Love Beyond Reason” and it’s been a complete page turner. Every chapter leaves me in deep thought and self-reflection. About a week ago I was praying to hear God’s voice more, something I believe we all yearn for. After reading the chapter on spiritual blindness and deafness I decided to do some reflection…

The Berlin Wall in Martin

The Center for Christian Education, the Lutheran Elementary School and “Nenápadní hrdinovia”, a nonprofit organization focused on remembering the victims of totalitarian regimes in Central and Eastern Europe, presented an exhibition about the life behind the Wall. Lutheran Elementary School Easter Bazaar

The students of all 7 grades of the Lutheran Elementary School prepared a one-hour Easter program for their parents. In it they introduced the Christian reasons for celebrating Easter holidays – remembering the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and most of all, the Resurrection of our Lord. The children, together with their teachers, sang songs, acted out a drama and prayed. Continue reading

In Christ Alone… and Together

Imagine that!

1. The Slovak Martin Lutheran Choir (consisting of people with little to no knowledge of English), singing an English hymn (of course in English)

2. Led by an American Baptist conductor (in the person of Brenda Fast, our ESL volunteer)

3. Accompanied by Martin Youth band

4. Singing at one of the most traditional church occasions – the rite of Confirmation

Impossible? See and hear for yourself:

A World Premiere…

US Ambassador visits CCE

First hand experience: FAST – forward to Slovakia

Larry and Brenda FastLarry and Brenda Fast serve as missionaries at the Center for Christian Education. Their home is in Washington State; yet they came to Slovakia for two years as their ministry primarily consists of teaching English as a foreign language to the students of CCE´s
university programs. Above that Brenda assists the teachers of Lutheran elementary school in order to prepare them to teach bilingually and Larry shares Christian charity by volunteering to help our colleagues from the university in Zilina to improve their English
language skills. The Fasts also live an everyday life in Martin, more of which can be found on their blog:
