Jozef Sopoliga, director of the Lutheran Elementary School in Martin, said this about his experience in America: “In 2004 , before the beginning of the Lutheran Elementary School in Martin, I was a guest in American.  I visited an elementary school there and It was very inspiring for me because the 6th graders in America asked ´How can we help you?’“

Volunteers Work on Pastor’s Apartment

At the Lutheran church in Martin they are two flats – apartments – for pastors. One flat is for pastor Milan and his family who came to Martin two years ago. A second flat is vacant. Church volunteers have provided free labor,  their time and  are using donated money to remodel the flat.

Student’s Worship Celebrates Christ’s Wisdom, Obedience, and “Disobedience?”

Jesus was twelve years old, Luke writes in his gospel, when he came to Jerusalem with his parents and other families from his village in Nazareth. They came to celebrate the Festival of the Passover. When the parents, families and children returned home to Nazareth, Jesus was not with them. Jesus was missing. Was Jesus disobedient because he stayed behind in his Father´s house or do you think he just did not realize his action might be understood as disobedienc by his parents? Children´s Pastor, Katka Valčová asked the students this question at the Lutheran Elementary School in Martin.

Evaluation of questionnaire – real view on studying in Bible school

A new Department of Religious Studies at the University of Zilina is in place.  Two study programs ´Mission work with children and youth´ and ´Religion studies’ have more than 170 students and are doing well. We asked our students some questions. The questionnaire identifies how the student found out about the programs and what were their expectations and motivation for studying.

When someone gets clobbered to head with a book and we can hear a hollow “plonk” sound, it isn´t always just “because the book,” said Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, satirist and scientist.  Nobody can hear that hollow plonk sound in heads of our students anymore because they learn to love books in their school.
