Working in pairs, spending a whole week on one project and studying many interesting themes like cooperation, communication, first aid and survive puberty! Last week in the Lutheran Elementary School in Martin was really eventful!
Do you understand financial terms? Can you choose the right bank product or spend your money wisely? October is called the month for showing “Respect for Elders.” In October, students of the Lutheran Elementary School met with an older generation—members of the Handmade Club which has existed in our church for many years. After the meeting of these two generations, we realized that love and respect for elders is a natural law, which everyone should learn and observe.
The first batch—more than 500 kilograms—was transported from the school to a pharmaceutical company (in Martin?) last week. Here, this huge quantity of chestnuts will be processed and used to produce healing creams and other products. The chestnut tree, which came from the Balkans, Turkey and north of Greenland, is an important raw material in Slovakia today.
This year our fields and lands produced enough grain for our daily bread. The work and effort which we put into the cultivation of crops and into irrigation of the fields was not in vain. We decorated the altar in the church with the produce of the land.
Did you know that peaches and cranberries promote appetite, lemons help with reflux and grapes and pears are very good for our thinking processes? These things are truly part of “God’s Pharmacy.” Students from our Lutheran Elementary School in Martin spent a whole week researching this and discovered that health hides in fruits and vegetables.
We feel thankful for God’s abundant blessings these days. Thanks to God´s grace we have managed to establish a Lutheran Kindergarten, which means another step forward in Christian education in Slovakia. The Kindergarten began to bring the gospel to our little children on the first day of this school year. The same day, 2nd of September 2012, the Kindergarten was blessed and sanctified by the pastor of the Lutheran church in Martin, Milan Kubík, who dedicated the new space to our God: “This residence is the fulfillment of God’s blessing; we pray that our God will live here and be parent, teacher and comforter in this place.”
Mr. Hrobon and nice people in Bible School in Martin,
I would like to thank you for the certificate which I obtained after graduating from the two-year Bible study program. I am very glad that I was able to attend this course, which has enriched me with new expertise in theology and other subjects. I believe that I will use my new obtained education and skills not only in my personal life, but also in my work as a teacher.
I would like to thank all the lectors in the Bible school for their specialized and friendly attitude to us students. I’d love to thank also to kind personnel in the study department, especially for their willingness to help and resolve any administrative problems.
I cannot forget to thank the sponsors who helped me financially to pay for the travel costs. Their support helped me very much in my study.
I wish you and your colleagues good health and blessings in your meaningful work to realize your goals.
