I rang at the front door of the Onder family’s house in a little town on the east of Slovakia. Jan, the father and head of the family, opened the door. A slender young woman with beautiful long hair joined us. I greeted her with the words “You must be one of the three daughters!” After noisy laughter from both of them, I saw the three girls enter the room.
The woman with the long hair who I met first is the mother, Dana. The three girls are Onder’s daughters, and the youngest daughter, Danka, is the one most similar in appearance to her mother. She is the reason I traveled to the east of Slovakia and came to this place. Continue reading →

We are grateful that He uses the Center for Christian Education as the means of delivering His mercy to all our students—be they students in our University degree programs, the Bible School programs, or the Lutheran Academy (High school, Elementary, and Pre-School). Celebrations of 15th anniversary of the Bible School in Martin took place during the first weekend in July. Program consisted of a Gala dinner Friday and Saturday ceremony of the conference, it was followed by a concert of St. Andrew’s choir with evening entertainment. Celebrations were completed Sunday worship services, carrying a message of commemorating the Psalmist “Come and see the works of God” (Psalm 66: 5). Continue reading →
At the beginning of it all was the idea – the idea or organize a celebration of the 15th Birthday of the Bible School. Our desire was to celebrate in unity, at the same place and time and, together, thank our LORD.

How did you feel after your coming home?
Coming home was tough. Fearful that I would forget all the joy and delight of living in Martin, once we came home, from the moment of our arrival there in October, 2009, I tried to press every conversation and kindness experienced in Martin on the pages of my mind so that I could not forget. And because I did that, Martin became my home quickly and deeply. When it was time to come home (back to America), in so many ways we were leaving our home, too. Graduation for students in the program Missionary Work with Children and Youth took place on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. The Missionary Work with Children and Youth degree program is accredited by the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Zilina.
